Another year on record for an amazing trip down to Sunriver, Oregon. And this year, I convinced Joe to come too! It was Dylan's third time there, Luke and Joe's first, and I've been too many times to keep track of. We left the morning of Saturday, the 3rd and all survived the 8-hour drive down there, making stops in Gresham, OR for gas and a potty break, Madras for lunch at Subway, and Bend for groceries before making it into Sunriver and to our cute rental house a little before 4pm. Also making the drive down that day were my Mom, Dad and aunt Jan and my sister and her boyfriend, Kyle. My parents and aunt and uncle have been renting the same house going on 11 (?) years now. Last year when they were down there, they met the owners of the property next door and found out that even though they don't rent out their place through a vacation rental company, they do rent it out to "friends" and since they had met them, they would be willing to rent to us! So we had the place next door all to ourselves, except for our last night when Brian and his girlfriend stayed too, and it was just perfect for us. It had two bedrooms and then a loft area with two kids twin beds where Dylan slept and where we put Luke's pack'n'play. It was so nice and convenient to have a separate house from the rest of the group but be so close that Dylan could just walk next door without having us accompany him, and we could use their hot tub ;-).

That first evening, after unpacking, we took Joe on a small car tour of the main hang out spots around Sunriver, including the stables, marina, new SHARC pool (Sunriver Homeowner's Association Recreational Facility) and the Village before heading back to the houses for Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner.
The next morning, Sunday, we prepped for a day at the pool. I felt like I had to pack up soo much for the pool- towels, umbrella for Luke, cooler with lunches, sunscreen, pool toys, the list goes on. And Joe decided to skip the pool that first day because his Mom was coming down early afternoon since they were staying at their cabin about an hour away for the weekend. We went to the SHARC pool that day since Dylan and I hadn't been there yet since it just opened last summer. It is quite the facility with water slides, a lazy river, kiddie pool, and an indoor pool too. However, it lacks any adequate amount of shade and it is always super crowded, so the gang prefers the much less crowded and quieter North Pool.
Even with a few swimming lessons under his belt, Dylan is still pretty timid when it comes to water, so he stuck with his trusty life jacket every day. Which was fine since he didn't feel the need to have to cling to someone when he was in the water. I think he would even float along the lazy river all by himself if we'd let him!

The next day, the guys played golf in the morning and the rest of us intended to go the the North Pool but once there, discovered they had to close it due to the pool chemicals not adjusting properly. So another day at the SHARC it was. Dylan really enjoyed himself again and it was hard to get him to stay out of the water long enough to eat lunch, or give us a break! But luckily, after golfing, the guys joined us to Dylan got to swim with Dad and Grandpa too.

That evening, we biked/walked (Luke was too small to ride in the bike trailer so we walked him in the stroller) into the Village for ice cream at Goody's. When we got home, we went in the hot tub!

Yes, we had a lifejacket for him.
No, I didn't want to listen to him scream the entire trip by forcing him to wear it. |
 |
| He seemed to tolerate it the last 3.5 minutes of the trip |

My Mom said we looked like that scene in Pirates of the Caribbean when the two guys dress like women and have an umbrella and row a boat

We saw so many deer. This particular family with the babies liked to hang out near our house. There were three of the little ones!
This was Dylan's sign for the trip. The first morning we were there, he was up pretty early and was anxious to see everyone and headed next door and was ringing the door bell at 7:30am while everyone was still sleeping! So from then on, this paper plate was his "ok" that they were awake and he could go next door. It was positioned so we could see it from inside our house so I could give him the go ahead to go over or not.
