In the past, we've made the trek across the mountains over to Eastern Washington to an area near Winthrop to camp at a friend's cabin. We had intended to do this again this year, popped open the camper (found out mice had got in again and chewed up the toilet paper, curtains, mattress pad, etc) and then after thinking it through, decided it wouldn't be much fun chasing a very active toddler around for 3-4 days straight on top of figuring out how and where to have him sleep.
So we scrapped that idea. The second option was that since my office was already closed and Joe was planning to take off Friday to be gone, we'd do something fun as a family Friday. Well, that week Luke came down with something. He started acting cuddly and sleepy (his usual not feeling well symptoms) the previous weekend and it kicked in full force that week. He was waking during the night, not sleeping well and just wanted to be held all hours of the day. He was starting to act/feel better towards the end of the week, however, then Dylan started not feeling well. So Friday's plans got nixed too.

This should have given me a heads-up that he was getting sick He never sits still long enough to cuddle with me to take a picture! |

| And definitely not feeling well |

| And this is a rare sight as well. Dylan took a 3-hour nap that Friday! |
Joe has been super busy with work, which is a good thing, it means they have lots of jobs and business, however, means that he has so much more paperwork and job sites to check up on all week and weekend long. So he ended up heading into work Saturday morning. Once he was home, we headed to the zoo! It was supposed to be crappy weather in the morning anyway, with clearing in the afternoon, so we thought it would be better to wait until a little later anyway.
Well, everyone else had the same idea- the zoo was packed. In the past, I've usually gone during the week, to avoid the crowds. So it was a different experience for me, and Joe had never been to Woodland Park before so he wasn't sure what to expect! It did end up being pretty decent weather, no rain and a little bit of sun.

| Luke insisted on his own horse, and didn't want me holding onto him either! |
After seeing as many of the animals as we could, then riding the carousel and letting the boys run and roll down the grassy hill before getting back in the car, it was time to head home. But not before a stop at Dick's! It's so rare we make it far enough South for any reason and we hadn't been to the new location in Edmonds so it was the perfect opportunity to indulge.
The rest of our weekend was pretty normal, yard work, chores, grocery shopping. Nothing too special. And Joe had to go into work on Monday to get caught up so it wasn't really that much of a holiday weekend in the end anyway!
